Electrical project is the drawing of all electrical installations that will meet the energy needs of a building with all the details in computer environment in accordance with the laws in force. According to the purposes and needs of use, lighting, fire alarm, socket, security, etc. electrical projects are prepared after the requirements are determined.
Static and architectural projects of a building are as important as electrical projects. Because a faulty electrical installation without a project causes loss of human life, loss of labour, time and material losses.
If the procedures related to the electrical infrastructure of the building are prepared correctly, they are carried out in accordance with the electrical project. At the same time, a building must have an electrical project in order to obtain a licence from the municipality.
Electrical projects are classified according to voltages. It is classified in 4 sections as low voltage electrical project, medium voltage electrical project, high voltage electrical project and very high voltage electrical project.
Low Voltage Electrical Project
Voltage or voltage is the potential difference between the two ends of a conductor. The voltage between 1 and 1000V is called low voltage. Low voltage is insufficient to transmit electrical energy and transport it over longer distances.
Since the power drop and losses are high at low voltage, the voltage level is increased and the electricity is transmitted to long distances without loss. Electricity with increased voltage is delivered to residences and workplaces at low voltage level by reducing the voltage with transformers in the distribution area.
The voltage of the energy used in residences and daily life is 220V, and the voltage of the three-phase alternating current used in industry is 380V. Low voltage, which is the voltage lowered from medium voltage to supply electricity users, can also be defined as the voltage used in residences and industry.
Medium Voltage Electricity Project
Medium voltage electricity projects are used to connect high and very high projects with low voltage projects. Transferring high voltage energies directly to transmission projects, that is, giving them directly to subscribers, is not suitable for both isolation and security.
For this reason, high voltage electricity projects are reduced to appropriate values and connected to medium voltage projects. In our country, 10, 15 and 33 KV voltages are used in medium voltage projects. Medium voltages are determined according to the length of the energy transmission lines used.
Here, we can make the following generalisation, 3 to 10 KV voltages are used on lines up to 10 km long, 10 to 20 KV on lines between 20 and 30 km, and 20 to 35 KV on lines between 30 and 70 km. High voltages are used on longer lines.
